V. Week nine vs Chicago, Trenton Gill’s punt near midfield was blocked. Van Ginkel picked up the loose ball and returned it 25 yards for a TD in what would be a three point victory for the Fins.
IV. Mike Gesicki’s leaping catch in the back of the end zone to kickstart the Miami Dolphins comeback against the Baltimore Ravens. Tua threw the ball up after avoiding pressure allowing Gesicki to use his height and athleticism to make the catch and get both feet down before falling out of bounds.
III. One game, two plays. First when Brandon Jones sacked Mac Jones inside the 10 yard line forcing a fumble that Melvin Ingram recovered for six. Later in the game with the offense struggling, Mike McDaniel elected to go for it on 4th and 7 from the outer reaches of Sanders’ FG range. Tua connected with Waddle for a 42 yard TD strike to extend the lead to 17-0.
II. Game 6 Eastern Conference Finals: Jimmy Butler hits a dagger long range jumper with under a minute left while being guarded by Marcus Smart. It capped a nearly 50 point night for Butler and forced a game 7 back in Miami. If he would have made another long jumper two nights later; this shot that forced game 7, would be farther down this list. As it stands, dagger jumper in elimination game 6 on the road gets you into the #2 spot.
I. Tyreek Hill. He fundamentally changed the Miami Dolphins’ strategy from a grind it out low scoring defense first team to a big play speed first offensive team. Hill leads the NFL in forty yard receptions with nine, including three of sixty plus and four of fifty plus. Adding his incredible fumble return TD of fifty seven yards against the Chargers he has accounted for 10 plays of over forty yards. Lets hope he starts the new year off right with many more big plays in weeks 17 and 18 to cap Miami’s first playoff birth in nearly a decade.
