Unfortunately for all NCAAF fans, TCU and USC let us down. The CFP Committee are now doing everything in its power to elevate Ohio State and Alabama into the playoff. Neither team deserves it. Not when Power Five teams with equal records and a Conference Title remain. It becomes too subjective. The system created the “Power Five” like it or not all wins and losses in those conference games should be treated and weighted equally. 11-2 Clemson’s losses are not “worse” than 10-2 Alabama’s failures. However, Clemson has more wins AND a Power Five Conference Championship. USC also has two losses, they have a Power Five Championship game appearance and more wins. Instead, the committee has decided there is a Forceful Four Conference and an Outstanding One Conference. Its denigrates the regular season and sullies the significance of the Title Games. Yes, it would’ve been simple if USC and TCU had won on Saturday, but then there would be no need for a committee other than to foil a teams earned opportunity as they’ve done in 2014, 16, and 17. Because they want ‘Bama and OSU in, this edges everything. Their wins magnified and the losses marginalized.
In just a few hours, the Committee will decide, this year will not be easy, but Power Five titles should have value, as should playing additional games verse Power Five talent. It won’t, the Committee will get together and try to determine which schools will produce higher ratings. As much as it pains me to say it, please don’t lets us down Georgia and Michigan. Play in the title game. If not, the Committee will continue to believe they are pig skin savants and keep choosing a mascot over achievement.
